The pineal gland is light-sensitive and releases melatonin when it gets dark, which helps regulate sleep patterns and synchronizes the sleep-wake cycle with night and day.2 Research suggests that a well-functioning pineal gland and sufficient release of melatonin enhance the ability of lucid dreaming.5 The pineal gland also produces a substance called dimethyltryptamine (DMT), which can be psychoactive and cause profound changes in perception, mood, consciousness, and behavior.1 The visions of dream sleep are suggested to occur through a dream mechanism that implicates tryptamine derivatives as endogenous paychedelics. The hallucinations that occur in some schizophrenic syndromes are also proposed to occur through a similar, though desynchronized, mechanism.03 The Lucid Dreamer’s Toolkit is a collection of herbs known to induce lucid dreaming, provide restful sleep, calm and tonify the nervous system.

The hallucinations that occur in some schizophrenic syndromes are also proposed to occur through a similar, though desynchronized, mechanism. These compounds occur in the human pineal gland and are regarded as neurotransmitters or neuroregulators. A protocol for experimental verification is suggested.

The thalamus acts as a relay for information from the senses to the cerebral cortex (the covering of the brain that interprets and processes information from short- to long-term memory). During most stages of sleep, the thalamus becomes quiet, letting you tune out the external world. But during REM sleep, the thalamus is active, sending the cortex images, sounds, and other sensations that fill our dreams.
The pineal gland, located within the brain’s two hemispheres, receives signals from the SCN and increases production of the hormone melatonin, which helps put you to sleep once the lights go down. People who have lost their sight and cannot coordinate their natural wake-sleep cycle using natural light can stabilize their sleep patterns by taking small amounts of melatonin at the same time each day. Scientists believe that peaks and valleys of melatonin over time are important for matching the body’s circadian rhythm to the external cycle of light and darkness.

To help promote a healthy pineal gland:
Create an environment that promotes the proper functioning of the pineal gland: Getting high-quality sleep every night is crucial for optimal functioning. One factor that affects your sleep quality is blue light. It suppresses the production of melatonin for up to four hours. When you go to sleep, your bedroom should beas dark as possible.
Indirect sun exposure is essential: Your eyes need indirect sunlight exposure to function correctly. Both the sun and darkness activate the functions of the pineal gland. It has a photoreceptor that receives light signals, causing it to produce melatonin. But remember, don’t look at the sun directly.

What the CIA.gov FOIA Releases Reveal About Psychic Research – Taking Back Your Pineal Gland.
After researching the CIA.gov FOIA request database records regarding Psychic Research (CREST, STAR GATE, SUN STREAK, GRILL FLAME) I’ve seen data consistently referencing the resonant frequency of our brain, 10Hz (alpha idle). In a classified 1983 CIA report on a technique called the Gateway Experience, which is a training system designed to focus brainwave output to alter consciousness and ultimately escape the restrictions of time and space. The CIA was interested in all sorts of psychic research at the time, including the theory and applications of remote viewing, which is when someone views real events with only the power of their mind. The documents have since been declassified and are available to view.
- 1950s – Robert Monroe, a radio broadcasting executive, begins producing evidence that specific sound patterns have identifiable effects on human capabilities. These include alertness, sleepiness, and expanded states of consciousness.
- 1956 – Monroe forms an R&D division inside his radio program production corporation RAM Enterprises. The goal is to study sound’s effect on human consciousness. He was obsessed with “Sleep-Learning,” or hypnopedia, which exposes sleepers to sound recordings to boost memory of previously learned information.
- 1958 – While experimenting with Sleep-Learning, Monroe discovers an unusual phenomenon. He describes it as sensations of paralysis and vibration accompanied by bright light. It allegedly happens nine times over the proceeding six weeks, and culminates in an out-of-body experience (OBE).
